Another word for favicon --
Wordpress has come up with a nice one.

Blavatars.

When you have a blavatar, it serves as a favicon for your blog.

To upload or change your blavatar for your wordpress.com blog, go to Settings in your dashboard and upload an image as your Blog Picture.

I think I added on of those even though I have no idea what a favicon is...is it your favorite icon? I’m always impress with you tech savvy. I like the smiley finger too:)

This is cool and I hope that my new one appears soon.

Thanks for the help, I see your finger as well =)

I’m glad that you all could tell that was my finger. (The picture is tiny!)

Elaine, I can see your blavatar at your blog. I wasn’t sure what it was because the the image is super tiny up there in the address bar, but I looked at your rss feed and saw that it is a dog. If you look at your feed page

    ---

    "a wordpress blog address.com/feed/"

    ---

you’ll see the full sized blavatars.

Lisa, you are right, favicon means favorite icon. More specifically, icon of a website. When a visitor bookmarks a website, the computer looks for the website favicon to display in the list of favorites/bookmarks.

OK, on Safari, I can see your favicon finger in the url, but not the tab. I can’t see mine at all...just the WP "W" in url. I don’t see anything when I look at the feed page either.

I checked on my husband’s XP and I can see my favicon in the url and the tab.

Just thought you’d like to know. lol

Maybe I’ll send a feedback to Apple about this! It’s just not fair.

Tell them it works in Internet Explorer. That will be the equivalent of dragging them over hot coals.

    buwah ha ha

That’s neat - I love seeing your finger up there! LOL I keep meaning to change mine to my sunflower avatar, but I never quite get around to it. What’s funny is that sometimes after logging into my blog I see Applie’s favicon up there instead of mine. It goes away when I clear my cache, but it makes me chuckle when I see it.

Oh, yeah. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Donna!

How long does it take for the favicon to work? I did mine a little while ago and it has done anything. :( It doesn’t matter, no one will be able to see it. LOL
  13.  Donna · Feb 6, 09:25 PM · #
It is showing. It might not show in your browser yet, but it will eventually, today or tomorrow. =)
  14.  appliejuice · Feb 7, 12:53 AM · #
It just showed up. LOL You can’t see it, can you? It is the applie with the spider. I will probably change it to something you can see. :)

It looks like a square pink blushing smilie saying \\\'uh-oh\\\' with its mouth over to the side and its eyes looking up. =D
