Every year ants come in the house under the back door and look around for food. There’s not much here; the typical floor fare is a fallen cheerio or two. There must be more here than I think because they keep coming in. After around two weeks, I get tired of seeing them underfoot and I offer them the killer buffet.
Ant Bait
This ant bait works very well. It has never failed me in getting rid of intruding ants. I bought it several years ago from a common super-store for around $2. To use it, pour the syrupy stuff in a small puddle along the ant’s path. Since these ants are coming from outside, I poured two little puddles just outside the door. They gathered around it right away. They will take it back to the colony and in time, the entire colony will die. The active ingredient is Boric Acid: 5.4%.

Old Toy
While I was outside, I took a picture on my son’s old toy. This toy has been sitting in my kitchen windowsill for around 5-6 years. He used to play with it in the wooden sandbox that my husband built and in time, the toy was buried and forgotten. When my husband took up the sandbox, we came across the toy and I put it in the windowsill.

What a coincidence! I woke up at 4:30 this monring like the nun in the Madeleine books. “Something is not quite right.” I went out to the kitchen and saw a little trail of ants leading from the back door to NorMan’s dish, where there were a few pieces of kibble on the ground. I could not wait two weeks – I had to kill them right then. I didn’t want to go out to the shed to find the ant killer at 4:30 in the morning though, so I used the Bengal roach spray I keep under the kitchen counter. Worked like a charm. I sprayed the line of ants, I sprayed around the door, and then I went outside and sprayed the little ant gathering. Talk about a party pooper. 😀 I watched them die, and then I felt better. 😈 I’ll put down some ant bait later on today.
That is a cute little toy, and it’s sweet that you keep it in the windowsill. 🙂

I like that ant bait, Donna. I don’t know if it is because it kills ants or that you are able to take pictures of the ants eating it. 😆 Cool picture.
Cute little toy.

I won’t wait 2 weeks to begin a battle with ants. Bugs do not belong in my house and I make it a goal to either kill them on the spot or teach them to swim. 😈 So far I’ve not taught any to swim but I’ll keep trying until I’m successful. 👿
Hubby is very aggressive toward ants. Unless he finds them doing what God intended them to do, decomposing dead trees and such, he gets his torch, gases them and then ignites the gas. 😈 It is a very effective means of getting rid of the ant we have – most are carpenter ants and in a wood house we don’t need any of them.
Donna, I hope that the ants are taking their party back to the nest, pack up and take a hike out to the woods where they belong.

Melanie you have some awesome senses if the ants disturbed your sleep. 😀 You showed them!! How dare they get NorMan’s food!
Elaine, I’m a bit iffy on firing up the ants in my house. It might melt my vinyl floor. 😉 (I’m just kidding, I know you don’t mean using gas and fire inside the house.)
Michelle, I liked taking that picture. The ants looked engrossed in eating that stuff. Later, I went outside and some of them acted drunk. Some of them seemed to be wrestling. Partying ant-style perhaps? 😆
I do wait a couple of weeks or more before killing them unless they are here in droves. I like watching them and I always hope that they will give up and not come inside, but oh well, too bad for them.
I should probably mop more often. Surely something was attracting them here. I just did not figure out what, they seemed to be disorganized and searching. The last time I had ants, it was because the lid on the sugar was worn out and they were getting into it. I killed the ants, bought a new sugar container and that fixed the problem.

I just really like the name of the ant killer “Revenge”……very ironic….I love it

I do to, the name is perfect for the product.
