I am new to homeschooling and would like to join your group. are there any classes that my kids could still get involved in? If not, are there any social groups we could participate in so my kids can make some new friends? My daughter Fiona is 9, my son Sean is 7 and my son Hugh is 3.

At this time I do not have an online homeschool group.
Another way to meet homeschoolers is to locate your state’s homeschool website. That can usually be accomplished by an internet search or you could start with this web page: http://www.home-school.com/groups/
From there, find out if there is a group near you and if there is, attend a few meetings. Some groups have park days (or play days) for the children and most organize field trips.

Hello Donna!
I am wondering what pages from the planner you put into your child’s own planner?
Each of my girls have to have a portfolio for the state requirements. The last two years I have just copied my subject plans for each of them and put these in their books. I’m wondering if I’m being redundant. The state does want x – number of days work shown in each book. The way I have it set up now, they have to see each of those days in each separate subject. Frustrated with this small detail!

I’m not sure if I can help much on this question. We didn’t have to keep a portfolio.
You are very fortunate! I started schooling where there were no requirements, but we are now in a state that does. Bit of an adjustment.
Would you mind explaining how you used the checklist? I understand how to fill it out – I’ve just been uncertain about where to keep it.

I kept the checklist somewhere near the front of my planner before the lesson plan pages.
I used it to check-off lessons as they were completed during the day. At the time, I was using a subject planner with no weekly plans. With no weekly plans, the checklist reminded me how many times a week to have classes on those subjects that were not done daily.
I taught my children how to use the checklist – they checked-off classes during the day as we finished them and that turned out to be a motivating factor for them because they could see how close they were to being finished for the day. The checklist became their favorite planner page in my planner. They did not have their own planner, but each one had a checklist in my planner.
I am new to homeschooling this year. Going to be teaching 9th-12th. Just wanted to thank you for your website. There is so much to learn and the forms you have are so useful! The spreadsheet I enjoy is the grade tracker.
