Anniversary of a Painting
Nineteen years ago I painted this for my son John who was 2 years old at the time. It is just a simple little water color and I did it in a few hours while sitting on the floor. The style was inspired by Goodnight Moon, a book that John wanted to hear often 19 years ago.
This painting floats in and out of its place occasionally. It’s been missing for years, but I came across it just a few days ago when I cleaned out a closet. It is the only painting that I loose track of. I suppose I should frame it.
There is a time line and a thought attached to the painting.
I painted it 6 days before I broke my foot and 12 days before Holly was born.
The thought behind it is more than I can explain here, but John loved to be read to and he loved most of the classic baby books. The room represents his room although his room looks nothing like this, the rabbits represent us, and there is a baby rabbit in the basket which is the sibling to be. The bear is Mut.

Thanks for reading! I have to run now; I have a lot to do today.
Happy Homeschooling!

I have finished YoungMinds 2009. As usual, there are new files. The major change in this edition is that I reviewed and remade hundreds of files and I cleaned out many files that I considered redundant.
That is just too sweet for words. Goodnight Moon was one of my son’s favorites as well.
Oh, Donna! That picture is so cute! You should definitely frame it! You are so talented!
That painting is adorable. You will be so sorry if you misplace it and never find it again! My oldest son just got married and these kinds of things are really special at times like this! I’m enjoying your blog.
So cute. Goodnight moon was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. You did such a good job on it. I bet he loved it. We read that book so many times
Donna, that is precious! “A comb and a brush and a bowl full of mush” always made me giggle inside. Goodnight Moon and The Runaway Bunny are favorites in our house, too.
