Lettuce & Floating Row Cover II
The lettuce has grown quite a bit since the last time I wrote about growing it under a floating row cover. [http://www.donnayoung.org/blog/2008/05/30/lettuce-floating-row-cover/]. From the outside, the green of the lettuce shows through the cover.

I lifted up the back where the excess cover was rolled up and I gave the lettuce more growing space. While it was open, I had a look at the lettuce. Some of it is ready to eat.

Couple of notes regarding lettuce:
It needs plenty of water.
Pick lettuce in the morning.
I suppose that you know what Holly and I will be eating for lunch everyday.

My son made a lovely little Mother’s Day card for me 14 years ago. The card has a rose covered with two sepals that can be opened. He wrote the message, "My love is blooming for you mom" on the sepals. Files to make the card are provided on the web page linked about.
WoW! That is some beautiful looking lettuce…Mr.Green here thinks so too — ->
I wouldn’t mind having a salad at your house
but no beans please but lots of your fresh tomatoes

You are invited anytime.
That is some beautiful lettuce.
I see no bugs for you to photograph; what a shame. I have plent of insects in my garden. Come down anytime with your camera.
I forgot to tell a story. Last week the young man came back in from visiting his collard greens. He looked like he was about to cry. I couldn’t tell if he was actually going to cry or it was allergies. Anyhoo, he said there was some kind of bugs ALL OVER his collards, so he couldn’t pick them for his lizards. I went to check and it was just sprinkles of dirt. It had rained hard the night before and the dirt splattered on the leaves.
If I ever get to come down to your house, I’ll bring my camera, you know I like taking pictures of bugs.
