Young Cardinal

In between trips to the woods with a wheelbarrow full of compost material, I saw a little cardinal in a wild blueberry bush.

A little later, I wheeled another load of materials to the compost piles and saw the parents of the bird. The female cardinal was on the ground with the small cardinal and the male cardinal was in the trees hopping around on the branches and calling to her “Danger Danger!” probably. I hurried to tend to the compost and got out of their way.

  1. Fabulous picture! What a treat to see a baby cardinal. It looks like he is getting brave and coming out to meet you in the 2nd picture.

  2. That is really neat. I’m glad that you were able to get the pictures and out of the birds way. You know how nervous new parents can be.

  3. So cute. We have a lot of birds nesting close by. I hope I get to see some of the babies. Hubby made me promise not to disturb the nest. I promised, but I really want to look.

  4. So cute! I’m glad Papa Cardinal was on the lookout for unsavory characters.

  5. Me too Melanie!

  6. Awww, how cute. I’d probably scream danger, danger, if you walked by, too.
